Linen as the Foundation
When I began my design journey, I knew one thing: I only wanted to create clothing that would never end up in a landfill. Waste is one of fashion's greatest failures, alongside the wellbeing of the people who make our clothes. I wanted to consider not only how long a garment could be worn, but also what it takes from the planet and the people involved to make it.
Linen became a natural starting point. Made from flax, one of the oldest textile fibers used by humans, it has a long history and a set of qualities that make it distinctive. Its natural texture, breathable feel and ability to soften with wear give it a character that develops over time. I was drawn to the fabric itself, but also to the possibility of building a collection around it.
